Yes, they're speaking in chinese.

jin wuqi basically means gold weapons.

cai liao means ingredients, or in this case, I think it means weapon components.

How can you tell a bot when you see one in town?
Normally you can't. Not even ANet can detect bots reliably. Also the farms employ human minders, each watching several bots (in case a bot gets stuck, or if a GM gets suspicious and PMs a bot) and he'll answer if you try to talk to the bot. Also any trading is done by humans - as far as I know bots can't trade with humans (there is, or atleast was, bots which can speculate in npc trader commodities, though).

After studying the population in Augury Int I do believe most of them are bots. They do not move or emote, do not form groups, they are almost all monks and when most of them speak they only say "shou wu qi". In fact, they seem to be programmed to say this over and over. I think the bots are only there long enough to get their backpacks cleared out, then they are sent back out to farm. The market for GW gold on Ebay is huge and has become quite an industry.

Funnily enough, I can read their chinese text just fine. Perhaps it's because I have it installed on my comp already.

I have been here many times. I'm surprised people are just now noticing this. If you go down to where most of the monks are exiting out of prophets path, you will notice that about 1 in every 9 get stuck behind the sign at the portal. I think these are the bots. All these guys buy cheap here and then they go to Lions Arch d 1 to sell. If you stay in there for about 20 min or so and watch the guys spamming and then go to lions arch a little later you will see them. I have seen about 7 of them spam for over 24 hrs non stop. I would say they are just earning gold to sell on a web site.

Numa Pompilius - amusing that someone with so little clue on the matter of prices and trade value of items is so insisting on making it known to everyone who wanders into this thread .

I won't even add any comments, AncientPC and others already have said it all.

I thought Numa's comment was very helpful. Yours was just arrogant. Do you expect us all to read every single thread on this very large board before we comment on something? I have no idea what AncientPC's contribution might have been.

I bet you get 100 messages in 10 seconds flat.

I'd like to clear up for all here that there are no Koreans trading in the district. I speak Korean and I believe that all of the people in Int. Augery1 speak Chiinese.

To Jetoc's comment above: This seems to be a closed community of Chinese traders. If you spam that you "WTB anything", you will get no response.

In brief AncientPCs contribution was that the professional sweatshop farmers at Augury Rock, intl district, sell things at 50-75% the price of what the hobbyist farmers at Lions Arch do.
There was more, notably that I made a mistake in my choice of example of why paying huge sums for a perfect upgrade is stupid (although he agreed with the gist of the argument) but that's the core.

Anyone can go to Augury Rock, intl. district, and check prices for themselves. IME, however, the professional farmers there are definitely not cheaper than hobbyist farmers in the EU realm.

What Gwenhywars beef is I do not know.

As I wrote previously, the prices at Augury Int are higher than elsewhere, and the people there don't really seem to want to sell to outsiders. They are busy doing incomprehensible things.
I said "wtb Ecto" and got a price much higher than anywhere else. Why they are in Int I don't know. Doesn't Asia have its own servers?

If you hit F11 you can change to Chinese text and it works just fine.

To those who think they're all botters:
I've talked to quite a few of them in Chinese and unless they have bots are intelligent enough to respond to horribly romanacized Chinese (never learned pinyin), they're not bots. The reason they're in Augury is the majority of them are gryphon farmers.

Why would they sell at 50-75% of the max price?
Because their goal is to sell quickly for the max profit available. You're right, they make their money selling gold and they get that gold by selling items to human players. They farm so much that their inventories are swelled up to the point that they would rather dump at 75% market value than try to push for 100%.

Where do I get my 75% estimate from? Perfect mods.

If you visit Ascalon1, LA1, or DF1 (all American districts) the current going price for 10/10 sunder axe haft is 50-60k. Anybody selling in the 30-40k range usually has a Chinese name with broken English.

Try this:

Wo yao mai = I want to buy
jin = gold

then put in whatever item/ price and see if they reply more.

shou is the shortened =xiao shou which means to sell
they can't use mai because it can be translated in to buy or sell depending on the tone used.
